About St. Andrew's

Posted by Bp. Andrew on June 22, 2011

"Remember that thou keep holy the Sabbath-day". For many, keeping the Lord's Day holy consists of a worship service bordering on a rock concert. Large musical teams that are in essence a Christian rock band on a huge stage with sound systems that would bring down a stadium is not what Our Lord had in mind. If one researches the worship of the Temple in Jesus' time, one finds that the services were done decently and in order, the music was joyful but dignified, and most importantly, most importantly, everything that was done was done to honor, worship, and glorify God.

At St. Andrew's, everything we do, everything we have, every time we gather together for worship, everything we are is for glorifying God. We use the 1928 Book of Common Prayer and The Anglican Missal for our services. Both of these are comprised of rites and prayers that have come down through the centuries and refined to the point of being the very best English speaking people can offer to God. Holy Eucharist is a beautiful, moving service where we praise and honor Almighty God and share in the Divine Presence of our Lord Jesus Christ in the elements of bread and wine.

We are a liturgical, sacramental, catholic, orthodox Church. We hold fast to the Faith of Our Lord as handed down by Him to His disciples and we neither add to nor take from that Faith. We believe:

The Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the inspired, eternal Word of God.

The Apostle's, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds to be concise summations of our Faith and mean exactly what they say.

That Biblical morality hasn't changed, been amended, or is outdated and is the sole guide for human behaviour.

The Sacraments convey God's grace and through them Christ is known and most assuredly is present.

The Apostolic Ministry of Bishops, Priests, and Deacons was instituted by Christ and is male in character.

That on matters of Faith, Order, Doctrine, Discipline, and Morality there is NO compromise.

This we believe. Here we stand. We invite you to stand with us.

The Anglican Church

Posted by Bp. Andrew on June 22, 2011

The Anglican Church came to the United States by missionaries of the Church of England in 1607. This church, as the Protestant Episcopal Church of the USA, was grounded in the ancient catholic snd orthodox Faith of the early Church and the early Church Fathers. In 1976, this church veered away from the ancient Faith by changing its theology and Holy Orders. Since then, many traditional Christians formed congregations to affirm and continue the Orthodox Catholic Faith as our Anglican forefathers received it in the beginning. We are heirs of the Faith that was brought to the British Isles in the second century AD.

While the Anglican Church has been influenced by major religious movements such as the Reformation, it continues the unbroken line of the Holy Catholic Church since apostolic times. Today, it still hold to the traditional doctrine and morals of our Lord Jesus Christ and contiues the Great Commission of proclaiming the Gospel to every living creature.

Special Service Sept. 4, 2011-A Call to Prayer

One of the most important issues facing our country today is the divisive dilemma of abortion.  It is a scourge to the honor of our nation and a deep wound to our Christian souls that such sanctioned murder is condoned and thrives under the guise of a "woman's right to choose."  One of the strongest proponents of pro-choice is Planned Parenthood and Women's Health Clinics in Travis County, who offer birth control, treatments and "counseling" to women, while operating a profit-based business in abortions.

The Austin Coalition for Life is a small but dedicated organization committed to the eradication of these centers and needs your support - financial, if you are so inclined - but more importantly they need your prayers.  I am asking you to offer your prayer support to this most worthy cause.  On September 4th, at the 10:00 am service of Saint Andrews Anglican Church, a representative from this organization is coming to visit and share with us the prayer program that is so desperately needed if their cause is to succeed.

I strongly urge you to make plans, now, to COMMIT to be present at this time and to listen to their story and contemplate how your prayers can be so beneficial and how they will work together with others who will also be supporting this issue, both within our city and statewide, nationally and internationally, as well.  PLEASE join with me to come and listen to this inspiring testimony of prayer volunteers, just like you, whose support has made such a profound difference in so many lives and saved so many of His children.  Tell your friends, family and anyone else who would be so certainly blessed to hear this message, to come and listen with you and me on September 4th and to learn how we can work together to serve Him in this most holy endeavor.

want to see our pews filled with those of you who know that this cause is more that a passing inconvenience, or someone else's problem, but rather a critical hill upon which YOU can stand with Him and offer your prayers for wiping away this despicable practice.  Mark your calendars and come early, to be there on time, to witness with them, before Our Lord and Savior.

Thank you, in advance, from my heart, for making this commitment!

In His service,
Bill+
