About St. Andrew's
"Remember that thou keep holy the Sabbath-day". For many, keeping the Lord's Day holy consists of a worship service bordering on a rock concert. Large musical teams that are in essence a Christian rock band on a huge stage with sound systems that would bring down a stadium is not what Our Lord had in mind. If one researches the worship of the Temple in Jesus' time, one finds that the services were done decently and in order, the music was joyful but dignified, and most importantly, most importantly, everything that was done was done to honor, worship, and glorify God.
At St. Andrew's, everything we do, everything we have, every time we gather together for worship, everything we are is for glorifying God. We use the 1928 Book of Common Prayer and The Anglican Missal for our services. Both of these are comprised of rites and prayers that have come down through the centuries and refined to the point of being the very best English speaking people can offer to God. Holy Eucharist is a beautiful, moving service where we praise and honor Almighty God and share in the Divine Presence of our Lord Jesus Christ in the elements of bread and wine.
We are a liturgical, sacramental, catholic, orthodox Church. We hold fast to the Faith of Our Lord as handed down by Him to His disciples and we neither add to nor take from that Faith. We believe:
The Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the inspired, eternal Word of God.
The Apostle's, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds to be concise summations of our Faith and mean exactly what they say.
That Biblical morality hasn't changed, been amended, or is outdated and is the sole guide for human behaviour.
The Sacraments convey God's grace and through them Christ is known and most assuredly is present.
The Apostolic Ministry of Bishops, Priests, and Deacons was instituted by Christ and is male in character.
That on matters of Faith, Order, Doctrine, Discipline, and Morality there is NO compromise.
This we believe. Here we stand. We invite you to stand with us.
The Anglican Church came to the United States by missionaries of the Church of England in 1607. This church, as the Protestant Episcopal Church of the USA, was grounded in the ancient catholic snd orthodox Faith of the early Church and the early Church Fathers. In 1976, this church veered away from the ancient Faith by changing its theology and Holy Orders. Since then, many traditional Christians formed congregations to affirm and continue the Orthodox Catholic Faith as our Anglican forefathers received it in the beginning. We are heirs of the Faith that was brought to the British Isles in the second century AD.
